The issue was resolved quietly with the help of a professional psychologist as the couple were married. But, there are several other cases of sexual aggression being fuelled by porn, some of which result in violent rapes.

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who had blamed porn sites for crimes like Hyderabad gang rape-cum murder and a few similar incidents in Bihar, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to ban all "porn sites and inappropriate content" available online. In the letter, Kumar expressed "pain and serious concern" over the increasing number of gang rape cases which have agitated the general public. Kumar also wrote that people, especially children and youths, are watching porn, violent and inappropriate content on internet due to its unlimited reach to them. The incidents of gang rape and crime against women take place in some cases because of the impact of these sites, he added.

Television channels are screaming with debates as to why, what and how this menace of sexual violence can be controlled in our society. With the recent gangrape and murder of a nine-year-old girl has sparked public outrage and anguish, the question that comes to the mind is — where are we headed? Is this really India that is known for its morality and values? At the end of the discussions, no solution is ever reached. Studies on whether pornography poses a greater risk for sexually aggressive behavior have revealed conflicting results. This study aims to examine the relationship between the consumption of pornography and the subsequent increase in sexual violence, thus testing the hypothesis that increase in consumption of pornography is related to increased sexual crime, in the Indian scenario. The current study explored the association between reported incidence of crime over a period of four decades - time periods being divided into: Pre-liberalization and post-liberation - India adopted liberalization policy in and availability of pornography over internet with a particular focus on crime against women such as rape, sexual harassment, and crime against women.
